Community Service

No matter what an individual’s educational, career or personal aspirations may be, strong, healthy communities provide the framework for success. AU is committed to building communities through wide-ranging initiatives that foster collaboration, partnership, leadership and innovation. Support for these kinds of initiatives will create the environment for more joint projects that bring people together to create a stronger culture of learning.

With your support, AU will serve the various communities with which it is associated by:

  • developing Learning Communities that dismantle barriers to study faced by students in rural and isolated areas, Aboriginal communities and work sites in Northern Alberta
  • engaging celebrated authors, opening doors to mentoring and learning, and fostering interaction among communities or writers across Canada and around the world through the Virtual Writers in Residence program
  • promoting science awareness and documenting scientific research on the Athabasca River Basin through the Science Outreach – Athabasca project
